The longing for home is a natural response when we are displaced. However, the longer we remains away from home, the more this feeling seems to intensify. Featuring the voices and narratives of three individuals who moved to the United States from countries around the world, The Places We Call Home is a series of animations illustrating memories of homes no longer lived in. Separately, each animation depicts a cherished moment that is specific to the individual; collectively, however, the animations begin to explore what factors universally define a location as “home”.
Beginning as a year-long thesis project, The Places We Call Home is an on-going endeavor focused on learning about individual immigrants and illustrating their feelings towards “home” and “homeland”.
